Zone B follows a group of friends whose loyalties are tested when two of the group participate in an open-mic competition as a rap duo – which ends up becoming a big deal.
The series was created by directors Juho Kuosmanen, Khadar Ayderus Ahmed and Siiri Halko in collaboration with youth instructor and actor Omar Abdi. Together they gathered a group of teens from Eastern Helsinki and organized workshops, where Zone B was born via play and conversation.
The main characters are played by Michael Miguel Nguema, Amira Rchidi, Salah Isse Mohamed, Makay Mohamed, Mohamed El-Waber and Said Aushev.
The rest of the enseble includes Yahye Musse, Adna Abdulle, Halimo Yusuf, Amaal Ali, Mukhtar Abdi, Zakariya Noor, Wendy Boakai, Moonet Aberra, Icram Icar, Hamsa Hassan, Omar Mohamed, Ayaan Mohamud, Sokorey Mohamed, Degmo Muhumud, Ayan Ahmed, Farida Amin, Emilia Girmay, Alice Dusabe, Jambo Muuse, Jeannine Butoya, Hadiya Rashid, Jonathan Muzinga and Khybar Zahier.
The series premiered at Red Sea Film Festival.
